More Progress!!!

Here is my challenge. Pass this story to everyone whose opinion of progress in Iraq matters to you and see how long it takes to make hit the main stream. This kind of story is a primary enabler of force drawdown! It paves the way to victory and, thereby, to bringing troops home Let me suggest the headline for the MSM:

COALITION TROOPS TO LEAVE MUTHANNA PROVINCE BY JULY

or

SUCCESS IN IRAQI PROVINCE OF MUTHANNA

The short and sweet of this story is that security responsibilities for this entire province are being transferred back to the Iraqis and is expected to be complete by the end of July. Muthanna is the second largest province in Iraq and within about a month it will be able to secure itself independently of Coalition forces. THIS IS PROGRESS! WE ARE ACCOMPLISHING THE MISSION! WE ARE WINNING!

Don't forget the efforts of the Aussies and the Japanese. They helped too.

I think there was someone else from another country too, but I can't remember.

No matter, congrats, hope they don't send you to a hornets (terrorists) nest.

Papa Ray,

You make a good point. Japanese troops are indeed stationed in Muthanna along with Australian troops. While not specifically named in my post they are a part of the Coalition of 33 other countries besides the US that are doing good things in Iraq.

In my attempts to see if the MSM had caught onto this story yet I find that FoxNews has the following headline:

Japanese Prime Minister Koizumi Orders Early Troop Withdrawal From Iraq

It is getting publicity here in Aust. Mostly along lines that left side of politics is saying Aust troops should come home to deal with terorism in our region. ( yet strangely Afghanistan apparently is worth sending troops too ) The Govt has made decision to stay however and we are redeploying some to more dangerous regions in Iraq so I hope our fella's have their wits about them and the Man upstairs looking over them.

I caught this story too... but.. I guess our TV news anchors are too busy talking about which unmarried Hollywood couple is having a baby this week. I did submit this to Fox news, to see it they might take time away from something else for it. We'll see. Oh yeah... when you get a chance... pop by my little site... www.blogmil.com which is a collection of RSS feeds from Military related blogs around the planet. You are on it, someplace. The site is coming together real nice.

Have you heard if IA 9th Mech Div has stood up its 3rd Bde yet?

Back in Feb the briefers were saying it would form in May but, I have seen no reporting on it.

And IA 9th Mech Div keeps adding territory to its AO...
