B36 News - 8 July 2006

I'm starting to get back in the swing of things again. A lot happened while I was away. More of Iraq is now under the protection of the Iraqi military which is under the direction of a democratically elected government.

Google Earth file.

The Iraqi Security Forces continue to step up to the plate. While the area for which responsibility was transferred is small, it is in the province that is responsible for nearly a third of all attacks in the country. More progress.

On 3 July 2006, the Iraqi Army assumed the lead in securing the province of Diyala. This is only one step behind the Muthana province which will be operating independently by the end of the month. This is progress. We are winning.

CENTCOM
In an operation that was planned and conducted by the Iraqi Army, roughly 35 bad guys were killed and another senior terrorist leader was captured. Forward Together is working. The Iraqi government is winning. We are winning.

***UPDATE***
It's HOT.

First, I know it is cliche, but keep your head down and remember to "check six" every so often. I want to hear that you made it back to the wife and son.

Have faith that I know we are winning, and I want to get the word out to those that don't know. I have only been retired for a year and I know people in the SPEC OPS community that are spending time over there.

Thanks for you input and for the links. Keep in touch.
